'Va' comes in augmentation after labial vowels.
Ex: teru + um = teruvum,
pókunnu + ó = pókunnuvó,
pú + áṭa = púváṭa,
kó + il = kóvil.
But 'uṇṭó+ennu' sometimes occurs as 'uṇṭóyennu.'
46 After 'á' what letter comes in augmentation?
Formerly 'vá' was used.
Ex: vá + ennu = vávennu,
vrithá + ákki = vrithávákki.
But now 'ya' is commonly used.
Ex: ollá + itu = olláyitu,
bhaktyá + avan = bhaktyáiyavan.
47. In sandhi what vowel is always suppressed?
The half 'u'.
Ex: enikku + alla = enikkalla, kaṇṭu + eṭuttu = kaṇṭeṭuttu.
