വന്നപ്പോൾ ദണ്ഡിനെ ഉടെച്ചു പണിയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, അതിന്റെ കൂലി
ചോദിച്ചാറെ അവർ ൩൦ ശേഖൽ തുക്കി കൊടുത്തു. അയ്യോ ഇത് എന്നെ മതി
ച്ച വിശേഷവില എന്നു യഹോവ ചൊല്ലി, അതിനെ അശുദ്ധിനിമിത്തം
കുശവന്നായി ഉരുക്കുവാൻ എറിഞ്ഞു കളയേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു (ജക. ൧൧,
൯ƒƒ).− അതു കൂടാതെ യിറമ്യാ (൩൨, ൭ƒƒ) ഒരു നിലം വാങ്ങി അറിയിച്ചിതു:
ഹിന്നൊംതാഴ്വരയും മറ്റും യരുശലേമിന്റെ ചുറ്റും എല്ലാം വിഗ്രഹപൂജ
കൊണ്ട് തീണ്ടിക്കിടക്കയാൽ പാഴായ്പോകേണ്ടിയതു (൩൧–൩൬), എന്നിട്ടും
ഈ ദിക്കിൽ തന്നെ ഇനി ആൾ പാൎക്കയും നിലങ്ങളെ വാങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യും
കാലം വരും. അപ്രകാരം തന്നെ ആ ൩൦ ശേഖലിന്നു വാങ്ങിയ ദേശം നഗര
ത്തിന്റെ ഭാവികാലങ്ങൾ്ക്കായി ഒർ ആശാചിഹ്നമായിരിക്കുന്നപ്രകാരം തോന്നി.
എന്നിങ്ങിനെ മത്തായി സുവിശേഷകൻ ജകൎയ്യ യിറമ്യാ എന്നവരുടെ വെ
വ്വേറെ പ്രവാചകങ്ങളെ നോക്കി, ചോരനിലത്തിന്റെ അവസ്ഥയാൽ അവ
റ്റിന്നു നിവൃത്തി വന്നപ്രകാരം സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

§ 153.

JESUS BEFORE THE SECULAR AUTHORITIES.
ലോകാധികാരികളാൽ ഉണ്ടായ വിസ്താരങ്ങൾ മൂന്നും.

a) The first hearing before Pilate. Jesus declared innocent.
പിലാതന്റെ ആദ്യവിചാരണയും യേശുവിന്റെ നിരപരാധസ്ഥാപനവും.

MATT. XXVII. 11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor ask- ed him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.

MARK XV. 2 And Pilate asked him, Art thou the king of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.

LUKE XXIII. 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. 3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it. 4. Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

JOHN XVIII.

29 Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man? 80. They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee. 31 Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: 32 That the saying of Jesus might be ful- filled, which he spake signifying what death he should die. 33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? 34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? 36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this World, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. 37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the World, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
