XI. ഊനക്രിയകൾ DEFECTIVE VERBS.
These are chiefly significative of Affirmation, Negative and Necessity.
759. ഊനക്രിയകൾ വിശേഷിച്ചു സമ്മതം, നിഷേധം,
ആവശ്യതകളെ കുറിക്കുന്നു. (309—320 കാണ്ക).
1. ഉള്ളു (ഉണ്ടു) "THERE IS, EXISTS".
(WITH DATIVE OF OWNERSHIP=TO HAVE).
The above are the only parts existing of the Finite Verb (from the
Rad. ഉൾ) They are used in the general sense of the Future, but may
also apply to the Past Tense, without resorting to the Compound Verbs
ഉണ്ടാക, ഉണ്ടായിരിക്ക f. i. (Historical Present Tense).
760. "ഉൾ" (313, 2) എന്ന ധാതുവിൽനിന്നുത്ഭവിച്ച "ഉ
ള്ളു, ഉണ്ടു" എന്നിവയേ ശേഷിച്ചുള്ളു. ഭാവ്യൎത്ഥം പ്രമാണമെ
ങ്കിലും "ഉണ്ടാക, ഉണ്ടായിരിക്ക," എന്ന സമാസക്രി‌യകളുടെ സ
ഹായം കൂടാതെ ഭൂതാൎത്ഥത്തിന്നും കൊള്ളാം (കവീവൎത്തമാനം).
ഉ-ം അക്കാലത്തു നടുമുറ്റത്തു ഒരു ചെറുനാരകം ഉണ്ടു. (കേ. ഉ= ഉണ്ടായി
now there was) അപ്പോൾ ഇവർ എല്ലാവരും ഉണ്ടു (=ഉണ്ടാ‌യിരുന്നു then they
all were there 566, 1 പോലെ).
"ഉള്ളിതു" എന്നതു പദ്യത്തിൽ മുറ്റുവിനയായ്നടക്കുന്നു.
ഉ-ം ശേഷം ഉള്ളിതു ദ്വേഷം ഉണ്ടാകും (ഭാര. the end will be, that enmity
will arise).

പലപ്പോഴും "ഉള്ളു" തന്നെ മതി ഉ-ം അവൾ പെറ്റുള്ളു സാൎവ്വഭൌ
മൻ (ഭാര= അവളിൽ നിന്നുണ്ടായി).
1. THAT, OF WHICH EXISTENCE IS AFFIRMED, MUST PROPERLY
BE A NOUN; HENCE THE PROPER CONSTRUCTION OF ഉണ്ടു WITH VERBS
IS TO CONNECT IT WITH THE VERBAL NOUNS.
