പോണ്ടൻ pōṇḍaǹ 1. So. (= ബോയി) A palan-
quin-bearer B. 2. a Brahman’s stool (ആമപ്പ
ലക). 3. = തീട്ടം (used by Kaṇišas), so: പോ
ണ്ടിക്ക Cal. to go to stool (Euph.).
പോണ്ടി pōṇḍi 1. So. The film of a plantain-
tree; a vessel made of it (C. Te. Tu. poṭṇa a
paper-bag). 2. the scrotum of horses, etc.
also പോണ്ട. 3. the skin of a jack-kernel,
also പോണി (see പോള.).
പോതം pōδam S. 1. The young of any ani-
mal, also dimin. കോകിലപോതകം CG.; വാ
തപോതങ്ങൾ Bhg. zephyrs. 2. a boat ദുരി
താബ്ധിതൻ നടുവിൽ മറിയുന്നവൎക്കു പരം ഒരു
പോതമായ്‌വരിക HNK.; രാമപാദപോതം കൊ
ണ്ടു സംസാരവാരിധിയെക്കടക്ക AR. 3. Tdbh. = ബോധം.
പോതൻ pōδaǹ N. pr. m. = പൊഴുതൻ, also
[പോത്രാൻ.
പോതി pōδi Tdbh. = ഭഗവതി f. i. പെരുമാളും
പോതിന്റെ പാമ്പുങ്ങൾ TP.; കരിമ്പുലി പോതി
(Wayanāḍu).
പോതിക pōδiɤa 1. S. Basella lucida. 2. the
capital of a pillar; (പോതികക്കല്ലു No. an
architrave on which the summers rest); a
piece of wood now & then placed in the notch
of the king-post to support the ridge-pole M.;
prop, support of a picote V1. M. T. (C. Tu.
bōdige architrave, C. pōṭi prop, S. pōṭa, pōta
foundation?).
I. പോതു pōδụ T. M. = പൊഴുതു (T. pōl̤tu). Time
ഒട്ടു പോതിങ്ങനേ ചെന്നവാറേ CG.; അയച്ച
പോതു Bhr. വെച്ചപോതു.
II. പോതു = പൊത്തു (C. bōdu). A hole as in
worm-eaten wood; പാമ്പിന്റെ പോതിൽ Is. 11,
8; പോതുളളതു V2. concave. — (see പോടു).
പോത്തിര pōttira & പോത്ര (T. പോതുക
to be sufficient, Tu. pōtra likeness fr. പോൽ
& തിര, as in ഇത്ര). Measure, rate മൂട ഒന്നിൽ
൨൪ ഇടങ്ങഴി പോത്ര കണ്ടു vu.
പോത്തു pōttu̥ T. M. (Te. pōtu any male ani-
mal, C. Te. pōtri a male buffalo). 1. A male
buffalo പോത്തിന്റെ ചെവിട്ടിൽ കിന്നരം വാ
യിക്ക, വെളളം കണ്ട പോ., പോ. കൂടേ വെളളം

കുടിക്കാത്ത കാലം prov.; പോ. വെട്ടുന്നു (Palg.
കോരുക) gores. അന്തകൻ പോത്തിന്റെ നൽ
മണിക്കൂറ്റിതു CG. my death-knell. പോ. കൊ
മ്പു പിടി a hilt of buffalo’s horn. പോ. കൂട്ടി ഉ
ഴുകയും കറക്കയും അരുതു KU. (see എരുമ, കാ
ലി). — Kinds: കാട്ടുപോ. or മലപ്പോ. a bison
(= കാട്ടി); ചെമ്പോ. q. v.
പോത്രം pōtram S. The snout of a hog.
പോത്രിയായവതാരം ചെയ്തു Bhr. Varāhamūrti.
പോത്രാൻ N. pr. m. (= പൊഴുതരായൻ?).
പോന്ത pōnda (T. = പന). A great fly ആല
വല്ലത്തിൽ പോ., പശുപ്പോന്ത, പോന്ത കടിച്ച
പശു പോലേ. prov.
പോന്തേൻ N. pr. m. (ഭഗവാൻ തേവൻ?).
പോം = പോകും.
പോയ്തു = പോയതു.
I. പോരുക loc. = പകരുക TP.
II. പോരുക pōruɤa (T. പോതുക, Te. C. to
fight, fr. പൊരുക). 1. To come, go along,
return ഇങ്ങോട്ടു പോരികേ വേണ്ടു, ഞാൻ നി
ന്റെ കൂടേ ബംബായിൽ പോരുന്നു TR.; ഒരു
മോഹം കൊണ്ട് അങ്ങോട്ടു ചാടിയാൽ പല മോ
ഹം കൊണ്ടിങ്ങോട്ടു പോരുമോ prov.; കൈ,
കാൽ പോരുന്നില്ല No. is jammed in, sticks fast
(cannot get the arm out of the sleeve, the shoes
off the feet) etc. പോരാതേ പോയി Anj. went
away no more to return. പോരേ നീ Bhr. go
home, ഏല്പിച്ചു പോന്നു Mud. came away after.
എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടു പോരാം (= വരാം). വഴിയോട്ടു
പോരാതേ കണ്ടു നിന്നു മരിച്ചു TR. would not
draw back. Sometimes superfluous ബ്രാഹ്മ
ണർ കേരളത്തിങ്കൽ പോന്നു വന്നു KU. immi-
grated. 2. to suit, suffice, amount to തല്ലു
വാൻ പോരാത പൈതൽ CG. not old enough
to be flogged. രഹസ്യം പറവതു പോരാ മഹാ
രഥന്മാൎക്കു Bhr. does not become. മംഗലസ്ഥാ
നപ്രവേശത്തിന്നു പോരും ഇവൾ SiPu. is fit for
heaven. നിന്നെ പോലേ ചൊല്ലുവാൻ ആരും
പോരാ Nal. none so competent to tell. ഇതു
വീളാൻ നിന്നാൽ പോരും എങ്കിൽ KU. if you
can avenge. അടക്കുവാൻ പോരുവോർ CG. വീ
ൎയ്യം അടക്കുവാൻ പോന്നവർ AR. able. ഞാവൽ
