൧൦ff). പാപമല്ല ജനനം മുതൽ പാപികളോടുള്ള ഉറ്റ സംബന്ധം അത്രെ
യേശുവിന്റെ ദൂഷ്യം. അതിനാൽ അവൻ സർവ്വലോകത്തിന്നായ്ക്കൊണ്ടു
ബലിയാടായ്ചമഞ്ഞതല്ലാതെ സ്നാനത്തിന്നും കൂടെ പാത്രമായി. ശേഷം ഇസ്ര
യേലരെ പോലെ അവനും പിതാവിന്റെ വിളിയെ അനുസരിച്ചു സ്നാനത്തി
ന്നായി വന്നു. യോഹനാനോ പാപം ഏറ്റു പറഞ്ഞവരെ മനസ്സോടെയും
അനുതപിക്കാത്തവരെ മനസ്സല്ലാതെയും എങ്ങിനെ എങ്കിലും വരുന്നവരെ
ഒക്കെയും സ്നാനം കഴിച്ചതിന്റെ ശേഷം യേശുവിൽ മാത്രം പാപം കാണാ
യ്കയാൽ വളരെ ക്ലേശിച്ചു നീ എന്നെ കഴുകേണ്ടിയവനല്ലോ എന്നു നിനെ
ച്ചു വിരോധിച്ചു (മത്ത.). എങ്കിലും യേശു ഇപ്രകാരം സകല നീതിയേയും
നിവൃത്തിക്കേണം എന്നു ചൊല്ലി അവനെ സമ്മതിപ്പിച്ചു പാപികളുടെ കൂട്ട
ത്തിൽ ചേൎന്നു താണു പുഴയിൽ മുഴുകുകയും ചെയ്തു.

ഞാൻ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു സ്നാപകൻ പിന്നേതിൽ രണ്ടുവട്ടം
ശിഷ്യരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ പറഞ്ഞതും (യോ. ൧, ൩൧–൩൩), നിന്നാൽ എനിക്കു
