ആ വലുതായ പോരാട്ടം അകമ്പുറം തുടങ്ങിയതുകൊണ്ടു കൎത്താവ് തനിക്കു
ണ്ടായ വിളിയെ സ്പഷ്ടമായി പറഞ്ഞു: ഭൂമിമേൽ തീ ഇടുവാൻ ഞാൻ വ
ന്നു. ഭൂമി ഇപ്പോൾ കത്തി എങ്കിൽ എത്ര കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു! എങ്കിലും മുമ്പെ
ഞാൻ ഒരു സ്നാനത്തിൽ മുഴുകേണ്ടു; അതു തികവോളം ഞാൻ എത്ര ക്ലേശിക്കു
ന്നു! സ്വമരണം തന്നെ മുമ്പെ സംഭവിച്ചു, ജലപ്രളയത്തിന്നു ഒത്ത സ്നാനം
തന്നിൽ നടക്കേണം; എന്നതിന്റെ ശേഷം ഓരോരോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളിലും മുഴുജാ
തികളിലും ഒടുക്കം പഞ്ചഭൂതങ്ങളിലും പരന്നും സകലവും ശോധന കഴിച്ചും
ന്യായം വിധിച്ചും ഉലകിന്നു പുതുക്കം വരുത്തുന്ന ഒർ അഗ്നിസ്നനത്തെ താൻ
കഴിപ്പിക്കും. സമാധാനം അല്ല ഛിദ്രം വരുത്തുവാൻ വന്നുവല്ലോ (മത്ത. ൧൦,
൩൯ ƒƒ). സകല മനുഷ്യജാതിയും യേശുവിൻ കൂട്ടരും വിരോധികളും എന്നിങ്ങി
നെ ഈ പക്ഷമായി വേൎപിരിയേണ്ടതത്രെ. ആയതുകൊണ്ടു മേഘവും കാറ്റും
നോക്കുന്ന കൃഷിക്കാരൻ എന്നപോലെ കാലമിഛിഹ്നങ്ങളെ വിവേചിപ്പാൻ
ഇസ്രയേൽ അഭ്യസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സമയം ആയി (§ ൯൮). പടിഞ്ഞാറു (രോ
മയിൽ) നിന്നു വരുന്ന വന്മാരിയും, തെക്ക് (യരുശലേമിൽ)നിന്നു ഊതുവാനു
ള്ള തീക്കാറ്റും വിചാരിച്ചു ന്യായവിധികൾ എത്തുമ്മുമ്പെ അഭിഷിക്തനായ
പുത്രനോട് ഇണങ്ങി ചേരണം (മത്ത. ൫,൨൫).

§ 120.

A SOLEMN CALL TO REPENTANCE. A SABBATH—MIRACLE.

LUKE XIII.

1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Sup- pose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all tho Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

b) The healing of an infirm woman on the Sabbath.

LUKE XIII.

10 And he was teaching in one of the syna- gogues on the sabbath. 11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, an d was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

12 And when Jesus saw her, ho called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 13 And he laid his hands on her: and imme- diately she was made straight, and glorified God.
