§ 41.
THE LABOURERS IN THE VINEYARD.
വള്ളിപ്പറമ്പിലേ കൂലിക്കാരുടെ ഉപമ.
MATT. XX.
| 1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. 2 And when he had agreed with the labourers 3 And he went out about the third hour, and 4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the 5 Again he went out about the sixth and 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, 7 They say unto him, Because no man hath 8 So when even was come, the lord of the |
labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto first. 9 And when they came that were hired about 10 But when the first came, they supposed 11 And when they had received it, they 12 Saying, These last have wrought but one 13 But he answered one of them, and said, 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will 15 Is it not lawful for more me to do what I will 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: |

ലേ കൂലിക്കാരുടെ അവസ്ഥയാൽ (മത്ത. ൨൦, ൧) നീതിയേക്കാൾ കരുണ
മേല്പെട്ടത് എന്നു കാട്ടുന്നു. വേലക്കാരിൽ ചിലർ ചെറുപ്പത്തിലേ സേവിച്ചു
തുടങ്ങി, മറ്റവർ ഉച്ചതിരിഞ്ഞിട്ടും ചിലർ മരണസന്ധ്യ അടുത്ത കാലത്തും അ
ത്രെ സേവിപ്പാൻ മുതിൎന്നു; എങ്കിലും എല്ലാവൎക്കും കൂലി ഒരു ദെനാർ (൧꠱ പ
ണം) ലഭിക്കുന്നതല്ലാതെ ഇത്ര കിട്ടും എന്നു നിരൂപിക്കാത്തവൎക്കു സന്തോഷം
അധികവും, ഇത്ര കിട്ടെണം എന്നു മുമ്പെ നിശ്ചയിച്ചവൎക്കു വിഷാദം കല
ൎന്നും കാണുന്നു. ദേവരാജ്യത്തിൽ ൧൦൦൦ സംവത്സരം ഒരു ദിവസം പോലെ അ
ത്രെ. വളരെ കാലം ക്ലേശത്തോടെ സേവിച്ച യഹൂദരേക്കാളും ബിംബാരാധന
ചെയ്തു നടന്ന ഒരു വൃദ്ധന്റെ മനാസാന്തരത്താലെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു സന്തോ
ഷം അധികം തോന്നുമായിരിക്കും. വേലയുടെ ഘനവും പരപ്പും അല്ല ബാല
പ്രായമായ മുതിൎച്ച തന്നെ പ്രമാണം. എത്ര കിട്ടും എന്നു ദൈവത്തോടു ക
ണക്കു പറയുന്ന ഫലകാംക്ഷ ദേവവാത്സല്യത്തോടും പുത്രഭാവത്തോടും ന
ന്നായി ചേരുന്നതും ഇല്ല. അതുകൊണ്ടു മനസ്സിന്റെ ഏകാഗ്രതെക്കു തക്ക
