അവർ ഒരു ആനയെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നില്ല എങ്കിൽ ൟ ത
ടി കാമരം കെറ്റുവാൻ കഴികയില്ല.
That timber cannot be placed on the stand (to be sawed) unless they
bring an Elephant.
രാജാവ എന്നൊട കല്പിച്ചാൽ ഞാൻ വരാം, കല്പിച്ചില്ല
എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ വരികയില്ല.
If the king commands me I will come; if not, I will not come.
പാലും വെള്ളവും കുടിക്കയില്ല എങ്കിൽ അവൻ മരിച്ചു

If he will not drink milk and water he will die.
എന്നുവരികിൽ, ആയാൾ, and ആൽ, have the same meaning as,
and are often used for എങ്കിൽ; thus,
അവൻ വന്നു എന്ന വരികിൽ ഞാൻ അവനൊട സം
സാരിച്ചുകൊള്ളാം
If he come, I will speak with him.
ഇപ്രകാരമായാൽ വരെണ്ട.
If it be so, do not come.
നീ ഇവിടെ വന്നാൽ ഒരു മുണ്ട തരാം.
If you come, I will give a cloth. (i. e. a garment.)
നാം ആ പട്ടണത്തിലെക്ക ചെന്നാൽ അവിടെ വെച്ച
മരിച്ചുപൊകും നിശ്ചയം.
If we go into that city, we shall certainly die.
167. എങ്കിലും. This particle has several applications; as,
1st. എങ്കിലും corresponds to our word but, when used to point out
something in reference to the persons or things spoken of in the former
part of the sentence; as,
ഞാൻ അവനെ കണ്ടില്ല എങ്കിലും അവൻ എന്നെ കണ്ടു.
I did not see him, but he saw me.
അവൎക്ക കണ്ണുകൾ ഉണ്ട നിശ്ചയം എങ്കിലും അവൎക്ക കാ
ണ്മാൻ കഴികയില്ല.
It is true they have eyes, but they cannot see.
അവൻ എന്നൊട ഒരു വലിയ കുറ്റം ചെയ്തു എങ്കിലും
ഞാൻ അവനെ തള്ളികളകയില്ല.
He committed a great crime against me, but I will not cast him out.
