134. Ordinal numbers are formed by the addition of ആം or ആമ
ത്തെ to the Cardinal numbers; thus

| പത്ത, | ten. | പത്താം, „ പത്താമത്തെ, | tenth. |
| മുപ്പത, | thirty. | മുപ്പതാം „ മുപ്പതാമത്തെ, | thirtieth. |
| നൂറ, | hundred. | നൂറാം, „ നൂറാമത്തെ, | hundredth. |
| ആയിരം, | thousand. | ആയിരാം, „ ആയിരാമത്തെ, | thousandth. |
135. Adverbs of order are formed by adding ആമത to the Cardinal
numbers; as,
| ഒന്നാമത, | first. |
| രണ്ടാമത, | secondly. |
| മൂന്നാമത, | thirdly. |
| നാലാമത, | fourthly, &c. |
136. The Cardinal numbers with the exception of ഒന്ന one, the use
of which has already been pointed out, are used as nouns, or adjectives;
when as the latter, they are placed before their substantives and governed
by the same laws as other adjectives. As nouns, they are used absolutely,
or placed after nouns and regularly declined; as,
ഒന്ന വന്നു, One came.
അവയിൽ രണ്ട പൊയി, Two of them went.
അവയിൽ രണ്ടിന്റെ കാല ഒടിഞ്ഞുപൊയി.
The legs of two of them are broken.
