About meI'm Alaa (Arabic: علاء) a resident physician, passionate Wikipedian, writer, and translator. I am a native Arabic speaker with near-native proficiency in English. I have been a member of the Wikimedia Stewards User Group since September 2019. I was a member of Wikimedians of the Levant from May 2015 to December 2022 and served as an advisor to the Arab Wikimedians Committee in 2020. In addition, I am a member of Arabic Wikipedia's social media team. Most of my contributions to Wikimedia projects focus on medicine, anatomy, and biology, although I also contribute to a wide range of other topics. My workI created my account in October 2010 and have been active on a regular basis since December 2014. I am currently a Steward, as well as a Bureaucrat, Sysop, CheckUser, and Interface Administrator on Arabic Wikipedia. I also serve as a Sysop and CheckUser on Wikidata, a Sysop on Commons, a Sysop on Meta, and a Sysop on Arabic Wikibooks. Previously, I served as a Sysop on Arabic Wikinews and Arabic Wikisource. In addition, I have been a VRT member since January 2017. I operated my bot, AlaaBot, on several Wikimedia projects to perform various maintenance tasks. The bot was retired in April 2022 after making more than 500,000 edits globally. In addition, I spent part of my time on various IRC channels, including #cvn-ar-scan, #wikimedia-rename, #wikimedia-stewards, and #wikipedia-ar.
