ഷം ആ വയൽകാവൽക്കാരൻ ഇതിന്റെ നടകൊണ്ട ഇത പുലി എന്ന തൊന്നുന്നില്ല ഇങ്ങിനെ സംശയിച്ച താൻ ഒരു കഴുതത്തൊൽ ഇട്ട മൂടികൊണ്ട് അവിടെക്ക ചെന്നു ആ കഴുത അവനെക്കണ്ട പെൺകഴുത എന്ന് വെച്ച അവന്റെ അടുക്കലെക്ക കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ട ഓടിചെന്നു. ആ കാവൽക്കാരൻ അതിന്റെ കരച്ചിൽകൊണ്ട കഴുത എന്ന അറിഞ്ഞ അതിനെ കൊന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവിവെകികൾ തങ്ങൾക്ക് നാശം താനെ വരുത്തുന്നു.
In the city of Hustenapoorum, a washerman by name Velasoodoo, had an ass, which by constantly carrying burdens, became so weak, that he was unable even to stand up. The washerman finding this, put a tiger's skin upon him and turned him into a field. The inhabitants of that place, supposing him to be a tiger, field in dismay. Some little time after, the watcher of that field, suspecting from his conduct that he was not a tiger having covered himself with an ass's skin, came there, and the ass seeing him, thought it was a she ass and ran braying towards him. The watchman having discovered him to be an ass by his braying, put him to death. Thus, imprudent people may be ruined by themselves.
