ണന്ന കൊടുത്തു ആ മാപ്പിളക്ക രണ്ട പണവും കൊടുത്തു. അവര വീട്ടിലെക്ക പൊകുമ്പൊൾ വഴിയിൽ വെച്ച ആ ബ്രഹ്മണൻ മത്തങ്ങയിൽ മുത്തുള്ള വിവരം അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലായ്ക കൊണ്ട രാജാവ തനിക്ക കൊടുത്ത സമ്മാനം ബൊധിക്കാതെ മാപ്പിളയെ നൊക്കി ംരം മത്തങ്ങ നിനക്ക രണ്ട പണത്തിന്ന തരാമെന്ന പറഞ്ഞു അതിന്ന ആ മപ്പിള സമ്മതിച്ച വാങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്തു. പിന്നെ അവൻ അത പൊട്ടിച്ച നൊക്കിയാറെ അതിൽനിന്ന അനവധി ധനം കിട്ടി അന്നെരം അവൻ വളരെ സന്തൊഷിച്ച രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കലെക്ക പൊയി ംരം വിവരം പറഞ്ഞു. അത കാരണത്താൽ ആ രാജാവിന്റെ ദുരഭിമാനത്തിന്ന വളരെ പൊറുതിയായി. അതുകൊണ്ട ംരംശ്വര സഹായം ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞാൽ മനുഷ്യ പ്രയത്നങ്ങൽ വ്യർത്ഥമാകുന്നു.
A certain King had two favorites, the one a Brahmin and the other a mussulman, to whom he was constantly giving presents, by means of which they became rich and lived happily. One day the king asked them by whose favour they enjoyed their present happiness. The Brahmin immediately replied, he was indebted for his, solely to his sovereign; but the mussulman declared, that he derived his from the grace of God. The King, wishing to put their assertions to the test, filled a pumpkin with pearls, which he delivered to the Brahmin, and at the same time presented the mussulman with two fanams. In their way home, the former, not knowing the contents of the pumpkin, began to grumble at the Kings,s present, and told the latter he would sell it to him, for his two fanams; to which the mussulman consented. When he broke it, and found the immense wealth that it contained, with great glee, and related the adventure to the King, whose vanity was completely cured by this lesson. Thus, unassisted by the hand of Providence human exertions are vain.
