INDIAN COUNCIL OF SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH FOURTH VIKRAM SARABHAI MEMORIAL AWARD TO KERALA SASTRA SAHITHYA PARISHAD. CITATION Kerala SastraSahitya Parishad is a voluntary, non-governmental organization, striving for the popularisation of science and promotion of scientific temper among all sectors of the people. As an idea it is 25 years old, as a body of individuals it is 20 years old, as an organisation it is 15 years old and as a People's Movement it is just 10 years old. During these years, the KSSP has continuously tried to interact with the society around it with the aim of both learning from the environment and redefining its objectives and influencing society in the best tradition of science. The KSSP was initiated over two decades ago, by a group of individuals with a view to promoting science. The organisation then had before it a set of simple objectives essentially communicating scientific information to the people in their mother tongues. This was done through seminars and publications. Though this may look simple, at that time, even such an idea was considered 'unusual.'
