THE IMPERATIVE.

126. What is the imperative?

The imperative is the form used 1st for commands,
2nd for requests.

Ex: 1. pó (=go!), vá (= come!)

2. taruvin (= give ye!), cholvin (= say ye!)

127. What is the form of the 2nd person singular of
the imperative?

The crude-form of the verb may be used for the sin-
gular imperative.

Ex: pó, vá, iru (= be!), par̥a (= say!), nillu (= stand!), nalku.

128. What is the form of the 2nd person plural of the imperative?

It is formed by adding 'vin' to the crude-form 'or'
'ppin' to the strengthened crude-form.

Ex: varuvin (= come ye!), póvin (=go ye!), irippin (=be ye!). Such forms as 'nókkuvin' (= see ye!), 'irikkuvin' (=be ye!)
also occur.

With the nasals, 'min' is used.

Ex; káṇmin (= see ye!).

129. How are the 1st and 3rd persons of the impera-
tive formed?

As follows:

Ex: ńán pókaṭṭe (= let me go!), atuvaraṭṭe (= let it come!).

This is called the suggestive form.
