As the infinitive always requires another verb to com-
plete it, it may be considered as merely a variety of the
ordinary adverbial participle.

The subjunctive form in 'il' is the locative of the verbal noun.
That in 'ál' is the adverbial, past participle with 'ákil con-
tracted. The concessive is merely a subjunctive+the indeclinable
'um'.
