The subject is found either in the word that precedes
the participle or in that which follows. When the sub-
ject is in the noun that follows the participle it has
sometimes to be understood from a noun not in the
nominative case.

Ex: núlu núlkkunna cháliyanmáril oruvan (=one among the wea-
vers who spin thread); in this 'cháliyanmár' (=weavers) is the
subject (understood) to 'núlkkunna' (=who spin), and it must
be understood from 'cháliyanmáril', a locative meaning 'among
the weavers.'

289. Is there any thing particular to remark concerning
the use of the future adnounal participle?

Yes; the future adnounal participle is used for past
time also.

Ex: pórumpóḷ vazhiyinnu yátra cholli (=as he was going along
he bade me farewell).

290. Is there any peculiarity in use of the participial
noun?

Yes; (1) while forming in itself a sub-sentence, it may
stand as the subject, predicate, object or adjunct of a
sentence or of another sub-sentenc; (2) the neuter parti-
cipial noun is very commonly used instead of the verbal
noun.
