ta, tha, da, dha, na. These five being formed between
the teeth are called dentals.
18. Which are the labials?
pa, pha, ba, bha, ma. As these five are formed by
the use of the lips they are called labials.

'ya, va’ are semi-vowels in consequence of their having
a connection with the two classes of vowels i, e, etc.
and u, o, etc.

ra, la, r̥a, zha, and ḷa. These five are liquids.

nasals, their sound coming from the nose.
