172. What are pure indeclinables?

'Um, ó, é, í, (as in 'allí') and such like.

173. What are the interjectional indeclinables?

Hé, há, hó, ayyó, chí, kú, om, uv, kaḷa kaḷa, kili kili,
and other words used in exclamation and to express
surprise, disgust, and other emotions.

174. Are there any other indeclinables?

Many Sanskrit indeclinables are used in Malayálam.

Ex: punar (=again), api (=even, though), sadá (=always),
athavá (=otherwise), anyathá (=otherwise, or on the contrary),
prati (=instead), upari (=upon, above), yadá? (=at what time?)
tadá (=then), kadá? (=when?), tatra (=there), kutra?
(=where?), kutrachil (=somewhere), atha (=after, and),
tathá (=so), ékadá (=once), kadáchil (=sometimes), kéchana
(=some), bhúyah (= again), núnam (=certain), muhu (=re-
peatedly), drŭḍham (=certain) etc.

175. Are not some words which undergo inflection used
as indeclinables?

No. An indeclinable is a word incapable of inflection;
hence, néram (=time), aviṭe (=there, that place),
póḷ (=time), anggu (=there, that place), pin (= rear),
munbu (=front) etc. are not indeclinables, because
they may be inflected to express case as in nérattóṭu,
aviṭékku, pozhékku, anggunnu (=anggilninnu), pinnil,
munpil etc.
