It is formed by adding 'ta' or 'tta' to the finite ne-
gative verb.

Ex: varáta, varátta.

The participial nouns formed from these have the follow-
ing forms.

Ex: varáttavan (= he who did etc. not come), varáttavaḷ (she
who did etc. not come), varáttatu (= that which did etc. not
come), varáttavar (= they who did etc. not come).

155. Has the negative mood any adverbial participles?

It has. The first is formed by adding the affix 'te' and
the second by adding the affix 'ńńu' to the above said form
of the finite negative verb.

Ex: varáte (= not having come, not coming), cheyyáte (= not
having done, not doing), nilláte, nilkáte (= not having stood,
not standing), grahiyáte (= not having understood), varáńńu
(=not having come, not coming).

156. Has the negative mood any other forms?

It has. The Malayális by adding 'innu' the old affix
of the present tense to the above said neuter finite verb,
have made a finite present tense.

Ex: 'varáyinnu' (= he etc. do not come), ar̥iyáyinnu (= I,
he, etc. do not know) etc. These have subsequently become
changed into such forms as;

Ex: varáyunnu, ar̥iyáyunnu, var̥áńńu, ar̥iyáńńu.

Thus the negative mood can be completely conjugated
as a finite verb.
