With auxiliaries 1. ആയിട്ടു = ആയി (but രാ
ത്രിയായിട്ടു കണ്ടില്ല KR. in a causal sense)
ചെയ്വാനായിട്ടു = ചെയ്വാൻ. 2. ആയ്ക്കൊണ്ടു
chiefly after Datives അവനായ്ക്കൊണ്ടു for
him.
II. The future has by itself the meaning of possi-
bility, which is then transferred to the whole
verb, ചെയ്യാം I will do, may do. ആം എങ്കിൽ
if possible. ആമല്ല cannot. ആൎക്കും പൊറുക്കാ
വല്ല GP.; ആകുംവണ്ണം, ആകുമ്പോലെ TR.
ആകുന്നേടത്തോളം, ആവിടത്തോളം as far as
possible. — in the past: കടക്കുമതിനായുതില്ല
RC. could not pass. ഒരുവണ്ണം ആയതു ചെയ്തു
ഞാൻ Bhr. did somehow whatever was possible.
പേ പറഞ്ഞീടിനാൾ ആയവണ്ണം CG. — pres.
ആകുന്നതാകിൽ CG. if possible. — chiefly with
Dat. & 2nd adv. part. നമുക്കെടുക്കാം, we can
take up, അവൎക്കെടുക്കാവോളം, വാഴ്ത്തുവാൻ ആ
വോർ ഇല്ല, CG. none able to praise, ശേഷം
ചൊല‌്വാൻ പിന്നേ ആം Bhr. പറവതിനാൎക്കു
മാമല്ല Bhr. (but also Nom. വെല്ലാം അവൎക
ളും Bhr.)
ആവു, ആവതു are esp. used with the signifi-
cation of power. പെണ്ണുങ്ങളോടേ നിനക്കി
ന്നാവൂ CG. you can but conquer women.
എന്നാൽ ആവതു ചെയ്തു I tried my best. ആ
വതെന്തിപ്പോൾ po. what more can be done,
how can it be helped? ആവതില്ലാഞ്ഞ ശേ
ഷം having been foiled. ആവതില്ല എന്നു
വെക്ക അല്ലോ ഉള്ളു TR. no remedy for it.
ആവതില്ലാത നില എന്നു നിശ്ചയിച്ചു നി
ല്ക്കാം TR. I shall resist it as an intolerable
state of things. അതിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ആവ
തില്ലല്ലോ TR. we can’t do anything to it.
ആവോന്ന് = ആവതു f. i. ആൎക്കുമറിയാവോന്ന
ല്ല CG. not to be known by any one.
III. to be the very thing (hence neg. ആകാ).
ചോറായി the rice is what it ought to be, done,
|
cooked (but ചോറായി പോയി the rice is con-
sumed).
2nd fut. ആവു it will be right, ought to be.
(= മതിയാവു) ഇറയേ വലിക്കാവു prov. pull
merely the eaves! എന്നതേ പറയാവു Mud.
എന്നേ പറയാവു it must be said, cannot
but be confessed. — chiefly with the 1st adv.
part, of Verbs വന്നേ ആവു he must come,
വന്നാവു may he come, oh that he came!
കണ്ടുതാവു Anj. വന്നാവൂതെന്നു കൊതിച്ചു
CG. wished that he might come; also with
Inf. നല്ല മനസ്സിനെ കൈക്കൊൾ്കേയാവു ദ
യാനിധേ PP. may you!
IV. It serves to form Compound Verbs:
1.) with Nouns യാത്രയാക to set out, ഭേദമാക
to be healed etc. similar to the S. compounds
with ഭവിക്ക (ചെയ്ക is similarly used, corres-
ponding with S. കരിക്ക).
2.) with Verbs,
a.) rarely in the form of the Verbal Noun
ending in അൽ (rather T.) കഥ ചൊല്ലലാം
RC. അറിഞ്ഞീടലാം PT. ഇരിക്കലാം KU.
(only with ആം).
b.) in the form of the old Inf. ഭുജിക്കായി PT.
came to eat, കാണാക be able to see, be-
come visible കാണായ്വന്നു, ഇക്കാണായത്
ഒക്കവേ, Bhr. (chiefly in a passive sense,
compare മാനവന്മാരാൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്നതും
കേൾക്കായതും സ്മരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതും AR3. what
is heard, can be heard) with Dat. എല്ലാ
വൎക്കും കേൾക്കായി Bhr. Often in petitions
ഞാൻ സന്തതം നാമകീൎത്തനം ചെയ്യാകേ
ണം, നമസ്കരിക്കായ്വന്നീടേണം AR. may I
be enabled to praise, worship. — in blessings
ജയിക്കായ്വരിക നീ Bhr. നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അവ
രോടു ജയിക്കായ്വരും KU. കൊല്ലായ്വരും Bhr.
(= കൊല്ലുവാൻ സംഗതി വരും) With poten-
tial meaning. എങ്കിൽ വരുത്തായിരുന്നു TR.
in that case it might have been brought.
നിങ്കനിവുണ്ടാകിൽ വങ്കൊതി തീൎത്തു കൊ
