ചക്കു čakku̥ (Tdbh.; ചക്രം) 1. Oilpress, (ചക്കു കണ the roller of it, ചക്കുകൊക്കു a wood on the top of the pestle, ചക്കുരൽ the mortar); sugar- mill etc. ചക്കിന്റെ മുരട്ടു കുട്ടന്റെ ചേൽ prov. ചക്കിലിട്ടമൎത്തീടും എള്ളുപോലെ Brhmd. ചക്കില കപ്പെട്ടൊരിക്ഷു പോലെ ഞെരിക്ക CG. Kinds: നാട്ടുചക്കു, കൊങ്ങൻചക്കു MR. 2. measure of oil-fruits ഒരു ചക്ക് എള്ളു etc.
Hence: ചക്കാട്ടുക to work an oilpress.

ചക്കാല the shed of an oilpress. ചക്കാലവാണി യൻ& ചക്കോൻ KN. the caste of oil-makers, also ചക്കുകാരൻ MR. ചക്കില്ലാത്ത വാണി യൻ KN. an oil-seller.
ചക്കുതോക്കു a mortar TR.— ചക്കുണ്ട a bomb, hence: ചക്കുവെടി bombarding.
ചക്കുപാര an instrument for taking oilcake out of the press.
ചക്കുപുര=ചക്കാല, also ചക്കിന്മൂടു.
