6th. Verbs whose present tense ends in രുന്നു, preceeded by a short
vowel, make the past in ൎന്നു, or ന്നു; those ending in യുന്നു, make ഞ്ഞു;
and those in യ്യുന്നു, യ്തു; as,

| കരയുന്നു, | കരഞ്ഞു, to weep. |
| പറയുന്നു, | പറഞ്ഞു, to speak. |
| തിരിയുന്നു, | തിരിഞ്ഞു, to turn. |
| പെയ്യുന്നു, | പെയ്തു, to rain. |
| എയ്യുന്നു, | എയ്തു, to shoot arrows. |

പൊരുന്നു, പൊരുതു, to contend.
7th. Verbs whose present ends in ടുന്നു, preceeded by a short vowel,
make their past in ട്ടു; as,
