Exceptions.

3rd. Verbs whose present tense terminates in ൎക്കുന്നു preceeded by a
long vowel, or by ഉക്കുന്നു, for the most part, make the past in ൎത്തു or
ഉത്തു; as,

| വാൎക്കുന്നു. | വാൎത്തു, to found, cast. |
| പാൎക്കുന്നു. | പാൎത്തു, to dwell. |
| കൊടുക്കുന്നു. | കൊടുത്തു, to give. |
| എടുക്കുന്നു. | എടുത്തു, to take. |
| അടുക്കുന്നു. | അടുത്തു, to approach. |
4th. Verbs that have ൾ or ൽ before ക്കുന്നു make the past in ട്ടു or
റ്റു; as,

| വെൾക്കുന്നു. | വെട്ടു, to marry. |
| നൊല്ക്കുന്നു, | നൊറ്റു, to fast. |

Exception. നില്ക്കുന്നു, നിന്നു, to stand.
5th. When the present ends in കുന്നു, ങ്ങുന്നു, and their causuals; or
in ക്കുന്നു, ട്ടുന്നു, തുന്നു, ത്തുന്നു, ണുന്നു, റ്റുന്നു, പ്പുന്നു, ന്നു
ന്നു, or ള്ളുന്നു; the past is formed by omitting the ഉന്നു of the present,
and adding ഇ.
Verbs whose present ends in ടുന്നു, രുന്നു, റുന്നു, and ളുന്നു, when
preceeded by a long vowel, follow the same rule; as,
