ഇനിക്ക വള്ളം ഇല്ലായ്ക കൊണ്ട അക്കരെക്ക പൊകുവാ
ൻ വഹിയ.
I cannot cross, because I have no boat.
ഇനിക്ക നീന്തുവാൻ വഹിയാത്തതകൊണ്ട കുളത്തിൽ
കിടക്കുന്ന കല്ല എടുപ്പാൻ മെല.
I cannot take the stone out of the tank, because I cannot swim.
കഴികയില്ലാത്തത കഴികയില്ല എന്ന ഖണ്ഡിച്ച പറയെ
ണം.
Say at once you cannot do what is impossible.
ഇത ഇനിക്ക ചെയ്തു കൂടാ.
I cannot do this.
അവൎക്ക ഇവിടെ വന്നു കൂടാ.
They cannot come here.
VERBS OF INTENSITY.
229. These verbs may be used with principal verbs in any part of the
sentence; thus,
1st. Examples of the use of കൊള്ളുന്നു with a principal verb.
അവൻ ഇനിയും എന്റെ ആളുകളെ പിടിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു
എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ എഴുതി ബൊധിപ്പിക്കും.
If he seize my people any more, I will complain against him, lit:
will write and inform.
അവർ എന്റെ കണ്ടത്തിന്റെ വരമ്പ വെട്ടി മാറ്റികൊ
ള്ളുന്നു.
They are cutting down and removing the bank of my paddy field.
ലങ്കയിൽ കടന്നുകൊൾവാൻ പണി.
It is difficult to pass over to Lenka.
ആയാൾ എന്റെ നിലം അപഹരിച്ച കൊണ്ടു എന്ന
ഞാൻ ആവലാധി ബൊധിപ്പിച്ചാൽ കെൾക്കയില്ല.
If I complain (to the court) that that person seized my field, it will
not be heard.
