2nd. കീഴിൽ, ought to be used when it implies lowness of rank, in-
feriority of station, &c., as,
അവൻ എന്റെ കീഴിൽ ആകുന്നു. He is under me.
ദിവാനിജിയുടെ കീഴിൽ വളരെ ഉദ്യൊഗസ്ഥന്മാർ ഉണ്ട.
There are many officers under the Dewan.
193. താഴെ, is placed in sentences thus,
അത മുറിയിൽ താഴെ വെക്കെണം.
Put it down in the room.
അവൻ മാളികയിൽനിന്ന താഴെ ഇറങ്ങി.
He came down from the chamber.
അവൻ ഇവന്റെ താഴെ ആകുന്നു.
He is below this person. i. e. inferior to or younger than, &c.
രാജാവ സിംഹാസനത്തിന്മെൽ ഇരുന്നു മറ്റുള്ളവർ അ
തിന്റെ താഴെ നിന്നു.
The king sat upon the throne, and the others stood below it.
There are various other modes in Malayalim, of expressing the sense
of this particle; thus,
അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പൊൾ വാ. Come when the sun is down.
മരത്തിൽനിന്ന അവൻ അത ഇറക്കി.
He took it down from the tree.
194. നടുവെ, മദ്ധ്യെ. The English words, between, betwixt, midst,
middle, are rendered into Malayalim by these particles;
1st. They are placed in sentences thus,
ആ രണ്ടു മലകളുടെയും നടുവെ ഒരു തൊടുണ്ട.
There is a channel between those two mountains.
അവർ വെലിക്ക നടുവെ ഒരു പടിവാതിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കി
വെച്ചു.
They put up a gate in the middle of that hedge.
രാജാവ നിങ്ങളുടെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെയും മദ്ധ്യെ ആ ആറ
അതിരാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
The king hath made that river a boundary between us.
ഞങ്ങൾ പൊകുമ്പോൾ വഴിയുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ വെച്ച അവ
നെ കണ്ടു.
As we went we met him in the middle of the way.
