6th. This particle is frequently used with nouns, and affirmative verbs
in a ironical sense, or to imply denial: such forms of speech are much
more emphatic than a simple negative; as,
അവനൊ മിടുക്കൻ?
Is he clever? Meaning that he is just the reverse.
അവൻ ബുദ്ധിയുള്ളവനൊ?
Is he wise? Meaning that he is a simpleton.
അവൻ അപ്രകാരം ചെയ്യുമൊ?
Will he do so? Implying the impossibility of his being guilty of
such a deed.
