പഞ്ചഗുപ്തം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. A turtle or tortoise, as hav-
ing its five members hidden by it’s shell. ആമ.

പഞ്ചജനൻ,ന്റെ. s. Man in general ; a man, as
composed of five elements. മനുഷ്യൻ.

പഞ്ചത,യുടെ. s. 1. Death, dying; as being the disso-
lution of the five elements. മരണം . 2. the nature or
condition of five. 3. the fire elements collectively.

പഞ്ചതന്ത്രക്കാരൻ,ന്റെ. s. A crafty, cunning person,
a cheat.

പഞ്ചതന്ത്രം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The name of a book of po-
pular tales or fables.

പഞ്ചത്വം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. 1. Death. മരണം. 2. the
state of being of five. 3. the co-existence of the five ele-
ments. പഞ്ചത്വം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു, To die. മരിക്കുന്നു.

പഞ്ചദശ. adj. Fifteen or fifteenth. ൧൫.

പഞ്ചദശീ,യുടെ. s. The fifteenth lunar day of either
the dark, or bright, fortnight.

പഞ്ചധാ. ind. In five ways, five-fold. അഞ്ചവിധം.

പഞ്ചനഖം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. 1. A tiger. കടുവ. 2. an
elephant. ആന. 3. a tortoise. ആമ. 4. an iguana. ഉ
ടുമ്പ. lit, fine clawed.

പഞ്ചനിംബം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The five parts of the Nimb
or Margosa tree, viz. the flowers, fruit, leaves, bark, and
root. വെപ്പിന്റെ സമൂലം.

പഞ്ചപാണ്ഡവന്മാർ,രുടെ. s. The five Pandu prin-
ces.

പഞ്ചപാതകം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The five capital vices;
viz, Murder, കുല; theft, മൊഷണം; drinking intoxi-
cating liquors, മദ്യപാനം; lust or carnal desire, കാമം;
falsehood, ഭൊഷ്ക.

പഞ്ചപാത്രം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. 1. Five plates collectively.
2. a small metal vessel in the form of a tumbler.

പഞ്ചപാപി,യുടെ. s. A very wicked man. മഹാ ദു
ഷ്ടൻ.

പഞ്ചപുഛം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. Respect, reverence. പഞ്ച
പുഛമടക്കുന്നു, To be respectful, to slow respect or
reverence.

പഞ്ചപ്രാണൻ,ന്റെ. s. The five vitals airs in the
body.

പഞ്ചപ്പാട്ട,ിന്റെ. s. See പഞ്ഞംപ്പാട്ട.

പഞ്ചബാണൻ,ന്റെ. s. The Hindu Cupid. കാമൻ.

പഞ്ചഭദ്രൻ,ന്റെ. s. A horse with five auspicious
marks; or spotted on the chest, back, face and flanks. ല
ക്ഷണമുള്ള കുതിര.

പഞ്ചഭൂതം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The five elements, viz. Earth,
fire, water, air and æther.

പഞ്ചഭൂതാത്മകം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The body. ദെഹം.

പഞ്ചഭൂതി,യുടെ. s. The five elements collectively ;
see പഞ്ചഭൂതം.

പഞ്ചമൻ,ന്റെ. s. 1. The fifth man. അഞ്ചാമൻ.
2. in outcast, a Paria, as not belonging to any of the
four Hindu tribes.

പഞ്ചമം, &c. adj. Fifth. s. 1. The seventh musical note ;
see പഞ്ചമരാഗം. 2. one of the Rágas or modes of
music.

പഞ്ചമംപഴുക്ക,യുടെ. s. A drug.

പഞ്ചമരാഗം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. One of the Rágas or modes
of music, one of the seven musical notes; the seventh
called Panchama, from being said to be formed by air
drawn from five places, viz. the navel, the thighs, the
heart, the throat and the forehead.

പഞ്ചമഹാപാതകൻ,ന്റെ. s. A very wicked man,
one who is guilty of the five capital vices. മഹാ ദുഷ്ട
ൻ.

പഞ്ചമഹാപാതകം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The five capital vi-
ces, viz. Murder, കുല; theft, മൊഷണം ; drinking
intoxicating liquors, മദ്യപാനം ; lust or carnal desire,
കാമം; falsehood, ഭൊഷ്ക.

പഞ്ചമഹാപാപി,യുടെ. s. A very wicked man. മ
ഹാ ദുഷ്ടൻ.

പഞ്ചമഹായജ്ഞം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The five great sa-
acrifices or oblations of the Hindus, or the worship of
spirit, progenitors, gods, the Vedas, and mankind, by
offerings of perfumes and flowers, obsequial rites, oblations
of fire, the study of the Védas and hospitality.

പഞ്ചമീ,യുടെ. s. The fifth lunar day of either the dark,
or bright, fortnight.

പഞ്ചമൂലം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. An assemblage of five medi-
cinal roots.

പഞ്ചം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. 1. Scarcity, famine. 2, any thing
composed of five parts.

പഞ്ചരത്നം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The five precious stones.

പഞ്ചരപ്പ,ിന്റെ. s. A vessel.

പഞ്ചലവണം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. The aggregate of five
salts.

പഞ്ചലക്ഷണം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. A Purána, or mytho-
logical poem. പുരാണം.

പഞ്ചലൊഹം,ത്തിന്റെ. s. 1. A metallic alloy or
mixture of five metals, viz. Copper, brass, tin, lead, and
iron. 2. the aggregate of five metals, viz. Gold, silver,
copper, iron and lead. പൊൻ, വെള്ളി, ചെമ്പ, ഇരി
മ്പ, ൟയം, എന്നിവ കൂടിയത.
