one circumstance, which must settle the question to our full satisfaction, i.e. the call of Levi.
The one indisputable fact, that Levi's calling to general discipleship, recorded in Compound—Chain
No. 1 b, must needs have occurred before his being selected to apostleship on the morning
before the Sermon on the Mount (Comp.—Chain I a), will prove beyond doubt the real order of
succession, viz. that Comp.—Chain I b takes the lead, while Comp.—Chain I a follows close upon
it, that, in fact, they both form but one great Comp.—Chain, the connecting link between both
being Christ's second visit to Nazareth, which according to Mark 6. 13 was but the starting—
point of a general preaching—tour, the same—we now venture to say—which preceded the
Sermon on the Mount.

Hence, our new Compound—Chain No. I presents now the following aspect:
