In connection with the conference the Hermann Gundert
Gesellschaft, Gesellschaft zur pflege des interkulturellen Dialogs e. V.,
Stuttgart (Herman Gundert Society, Society for the Promotion of Inter
Cultural Dialogue) was founded. Besides other purposes and aims, this
foundation was and is much interested in getting the TULMMS pub
lished. As mentioned above the Hermann Gundert Conference offered a
wide range of topics. In the same way the introductions of TULMMS seek
to give a broad spectrum. One of the conference subjects dealt with the
economic exchange between India and Germany. Therefore we are very
glad that Michael von Hauff presents his article Indo-German Economic
Cooperation: Some Basic Aspects in TULMMS. In cooperation with
Martin Buescher he also published an article dealing with ethic norms of
economic exchanges of which we shall reproduce some very important
paragraphs.
Prospects
In the introduction to his contribution Indo-German Economic Coopera
tion. Some Basic Aspects (see the following article) Michael von Hauff
makes us aware that "bilateral economic relations between countries with
different levels of development evolve on very different planes. In the
field of economics scarcely any attempt has been made to explore this
context extensively."
These sentences give a general view of what has very deep roots.
This becomes obvious in the description of the "winner-loser-syndrome"
or, "promoting bilateral economic cooperation on equal terms.” These
are, to a great extent, ethical statements. For a better insight into the ethic
norms in Michael von Hauff's article we shall draw our attention upon the
treatise Development Aid between Cultural Encounter and General
Conditions of Economic Policy by Michael von Hauff and Martin
